Nursery!

Image
While I was visiting my family over the weekend, John surprised me and painted the nursery!! We had been going back and forth on which color to paint and I finally told John that I trusted him to decide but I didn't know he was going to get started so soon! He's decided to put a chair rail around the room with pink paint on top and brown on the bottom. I think it looks beautiful (still needs one more coat before the chair rail gets mounted). I tried to place the quilt where you can see how cute it looks with the new paint! Thanks John!! And for those of you who are wondering, he told me that he was eating chicken wings and watching football all day Sunday..

Merry Christmas!

Congratulations to Kelli and Travis! They were married on August 20th, 2011. John was their photographer and one of his favorite pictures is posted above. This was his first wedding as the photographer and I think he did a fantastic job! Plus it helps when you have a nice setting and a beautiful bride!

Easter 2011

Our sweet niece, Parker, was absolutely adorable hunting eggs at Aunt Darlene's house on Saturday! Uncle Gary carried her Hello Kitty basket for her! We loved spending time with our family over Easter and we were very thankful for two days of beautiful weather.

Run the Bluegrass

Image
This morning I ran the Lexington half marathon, Run the Bluegrass! It was beautiful weather and I had a much better time than I had anticipated. My official finish time was 2:13:17 ! They gave out unique horse shoe medallions instead of the traditional ribbon necklace. I'm really happy with that time, I was just over 10 minute miles. The first half I was definitely under 10, but I couldn't hold on past mile 7.. still I'm happy to have kept up my pace and glad that I didn't stop to walk. It's 9pm, I finished the race at 10:15am, my stomach has finally settled down. I was a little under-prepared because I'm such a baby when it comes to running in the cold!! I'll know better next time. To finish off a good day, our St. Luke softball team went out and won our first game of the season! 12-0!! What a great start to Spring Break 2011! Next weekend: 12 mile hike through the Pisgah National Forest in NC!

Happy New Year to everyone! We have had a very interesting year to say the least- lots of life changing events. First, this is the first year we were Aunt Jamie and Uncle John and we have really enjoyed watching our niece Parker grow and change so much over her first year! Next we bought our first home in Lexington and we are really happy and feel very comfortable and settled like we never felt before. In the Spring I lost my grandmother to Alzheimer's disease and in the fall lost my cousin Lauren in a tragic car accident. We are still praying for peace for the Baker family and hope 2011 has great things in store to help everyone heal. John got a new job this fall and he is really enjoying his new position with Coca-Cola. No travelling is involved and he is very good at his job, so things are going well for him and we are happy with the change! I still have my job at Henry Clay High School and my classes this year have been very smooth and enjoyable compared to previous yea
